Disneyland Expands Fastpass; Also Introduces MaxPass
The Disney Fastpass system, first introduced in 1999, is one of the best ways to make the most of your time at Disney Parks. The Disney Fastpass system has evolved and expanded differently at Disneyland and Disney World and the latest update comes to Disneyland.
Disney Fastpass has been expanded to two more popular attractions, Toy Story Mania inside Disney California Adventure Park and Matterhorn Bobsleds inside Disneyland Park. With the two new additions to the program, there are a total of 16 attractions available with Fastpass at the Disneyland Resort.
Disney Fastpass Service at the Disneyland Resort now includes:
Disneyland Park:
Disney California Adventure:
Also, debuting later this year is Disney MaxPass, which will allow unlimited downloads of PhotoPass pictures and will allow for mobile booking and redemption of Disney Fastpass return times using the Disneyland mobile app for rides only on the day of your visit, i.e., cannot be booked in advance and no digital fastpasses for shows. This digital convenience, however, comes at a price of $10 per person per day. If you're an annual passholder, you'll have an opportunity to purchase the Disney MaxPass on a daily or yearly basis.
And lastly, one thing to note is the current constraints of getting Fastpasses remains and will follow the paper system rules meaning you can still only obtain one Fastpass at a time, with time constraints until another one can be obtained.
Initial Reaction:
I like that Toy Story Mania has been added to the Fastpass system, but it will be interesting to see how the new Disney MaxPass service works with the current paper system.
In my opinion, the $10 per person per day charge for MaxPass in essence amounts to the price of convenience people will be willing to pay and not having to run to each fastpass distribution kiosks spread all throughout the parks.
It will also allow for better planning for your next and we'll have to wait and see how this plays out when the Disney MaxPass service is rolled out later this year given that both the paper system and new digital system will co-exist together.
