Review: Ritz Carlton San Francisco

The Ritz Carlton San Francisco, located on a hilltop in the historic Nob Hill neighborhood, is set within a nine-story 1909 landmark building, is walking distance to Union Square and is San Francisco's only AAA five-diamond hotel.  The recently renovated hotel and service here make this hotel a great choice for your next trip to San Francisco.

Hotel Overview:
The Ritz Carlton San Francisco is a sophisticated urban retreat featuring 336 luxurious guest rooms and suites, two great restaurants, one of which offers globally inspired California cuisine in Parallel 37, and a cable car stop just outside the door to get to the sights the city by the bay has to offer.

The driveway entrance into the hotel is very small, but the bellman and valet will quickly help and be of service to get you settled in to the hotel.  Valet parking will run you $65 per night, which is on par with other San Francisco hotels.

The first thing you'll notice upon entering on the fourth floor of the hotel is the grandeur and modern, yet timeless, decor throughout the lobby and hotel.

There is a Spa and Fitness Center on the first floor of the hotel.

Access to the Terrace Courtyard and Business center is on the second floor.  There is also a large outdoor tent setup for large parties and other business gatherings.

Ritz Kids Club
Prior to arrival, concierge contacts each guest to learn about their children’s names, ages, any allergies, their needs and preferences to customize their stay.

Some of the perks include:
  • Ritz Kids registration desk that includes a fun registration form for children to complete that includes their age, birthday, mom and dad’s names, favorite color, food and drinks
  • Personalized welcome letter for the child
  • Ritz Kids welcome packet with a coloring book and a scavenger hunt kit focused on the Ritz Kids four key pillars: water, land, culture and environmental responsibility
  • Welcome card and food amenity in guest room
  • A Ritz-Kids menu offered throughout the hotel including Parallel 37, The Lounge and In Room Dining.
    • In the restaurants kids enjoy a complimentary welcome snack prior to their meal during breakfast, lunch and dinner (during dinner only in The Lounge).

Accommodations
The Ritz Carlton San Francisco recently underwent a $7 million renovation with the room decor inspired by tailored fashion, the fog of San Francisco and city architecture.  The new guest room design features shades of steely blue, silver and grey with roman shades and modern furniture pieces.

Dining Options
There are two dining options available at the hotel, as well as a Club Lounge.

Parallel 37 is the hotel’s signature restaurant serving breakfast and dinner featuring contemporary American cuisine, handcrafted cocktails and wines primarily sourced in and around the Bay Area.

The Lounge offers casual dining with a view of San Francisco's breathtaking skyline serving lunch and dinner

The Club Lounge
The Club floor rooms are located on the top two floors of the hotel and typically cost twenty five percent extra from standard room prices.  The rooms are slightly larger than regular rooms, appointed with upgraded amenities and come with access to the Ritz Carlton Club Lounge.  There is also a dedicated club lounge concierge in case you needed help with anything during your stay.  Lastly, it is very kid friendly, with jars of candy and cookies available around the clock.

My Experience:
The Ritz Carlton San Francisco is a great hotel in an awesome location with easy access to the Union Square area and a cable car stop just outside the door to get to the main tourist attractions San Francisco has to offer.  The available amenities here and activities are great for a family trip or couples getaway.

Everything from valet, check-in, welcome amenities, club lounge, dining choices and activities available here made our stay enjoyable and very memorable.  We had a great time during our short stay at the hotel and look forward to visiting again soon.
