Review: Omni San Diego Hotel

Omni San Diego, located on the Southern edge of the historical Gaslamp Quarter, is a 21-story luxury hotel next to Petco Park that offers a convenient location to explore downtown San Diego.  Hotel amenities include an outdoor terrace with a heated pool, spacious contemporary rooms and a McCormick & Schmick's seafood restaurant.

Location:
The Omni San Diego is located in the historical Gaslamp Quarter.


If you're not familiar with the area - The Gaslamp Quarter is located between 4th and 6th avenues, and between Broadway to the north and Harbor Drive to the south, and is a hip, young neighborhood that’s home to some of downtown San Diego's best restaurants, hotels, shopping, and nightlife.

The hotel is connected to Petco Park by a skybridge and perfect for easy access to baseball games and other events.


Hotel Amenities:
The Omni San Diego is a great choice to consider when visiting San Diego and includes the following amenities:
  • Two dining facilities, as well as a space that serves coffee, beer and wine. 
    • McCormick & Schmick's is the main restaurant 
    • Terrace Bar & Grill offers drinks and casual Californian fare by the pool.
    • Zumbido offers drinks and small bites just past the lobby area
  • Pool & Outdoor Terrace
    • The outdoor sun deck features a heated pool, whirlpool and fireplace.  
    • The adjacent Palm Terrace serves cocktails and Californian cuisine poolside.
    • Located on the 6th floor
  • Omni Kids Crew
    • At check-in, kids receive a backpack full of goodies as part of the free Omni Kids Crew program. 
    • The backpack features an activity book, memory cards, binoculars, a tabletop game and crayons.
    • Milk and cookies are delivered on the first night of the stay and big hit with kid! 
  • Fitness
    • 24-hour fitness center features cardio machines and weight-training equipment.  Other perks include free water, fruit and towels.
  • Baseball Memorabilia
    • The hotel has a nice collection of baseball memorabilia

  • Parking is available through valet for $40 per night or you could park across the street at the parking garage for a lower price.
Accommodations:
The 511 rooms at the hotel feature floor-to-ceiling windows with great views of downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter or Petco Park's outfield.


Rooms are decorated in neutral tones and are airy and light-filled, with floor-to-ceiling windows and wood accents. All have soothing decor in beige, white and blue tones, with some rooms featuring landscape-inspired artwork.  Other amenities include pillow-top mattresses, terrycloth bathrobes, 40-inch flat-screen TVs and minibars.






Our room featured a great view of San Diego.  The day vs night views from the rooms are spectacular!



Overall Impression:
We enjoyed a great holiday stay here and found the location to be very convenient to the area attractions we visited in San Diego.  Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo and more great museums are only a short drive away and the convenience of being able to walk to great restaurants in the Gaslamp Quarter was nice, especially with our young kids!
