Sacramento's Farm-to-Fork Festival
Sacramento is known as the 'Farm-to-Fork Capital of America' and while this may seem like a fad or a marketing slogan to outsiders to generate interest in the area, the Sacramento region truly is a agricultural powerhouse that is reflected in its regional dining, farms, crops and so much more!
The Sacramento region boasts a year-round growing season, and an ideal climate that allows the area to grow a bounty of crops. The region sits among 1.5 million acres of farms and ranches that grow more than 160 crops for markets here and abroad. The region is also home to more than forty regional farmers markets, including the largest California Certified Farmers’ Market in the state.
Local restaurants utilize the abundance of regionally grown fruits and vegetables to create a farm-to-fork freshness that’s unparalleled elsewhere. Whether you’re enjoying a burger or an elegant dinner at the many wonderful restaurants throughout the region, local you can bet that local ingredients are on the table.
I'll be highlighting some of our favorites throughout the Sacramento area in an upcoming post - stay tuned!
The Sacramento region truly is America's Farm-to-Fork Capital and there is no better way to celebrate it than with a big festival coming up next weekend from September 27-28, 2019!
Farm-to-Fork Street Festival
We've been to the festival the past few years and always enjoy checking out all of the vendors, performances and sampling plenty of food and drinks!
When you arrive, be sure to check out the festival map and the list of vendors before you go so you know who you need to see and what you want to taste. Also, I recommend getting there early for the shortest lines and best parking spots.

To celebrate the region, Visit Sacramento, the area's tourism board, holds an annual festival over two-days known as the Farm-to-Fork Street Festival. We have gone to the festival the past few years and always enjoy our time there!
The festival brings together the community in downtown Sacramento and features musical performances, farmers, vendor booths, cooking demonstrations, local wineries/breweries, local grocers and more!
