Review: Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club

Review: Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club Resort

One of our favorite areas to stay in all of Hawaii is in Ko Olina, on the island of Oahu.  There are some great resorts to choose from in Ko Olina, but one of our favorites is Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club due to location, villa accommodations, Ko Olina lagoons and on-site amenities.

Hotel Overview

Marriott Ko Olina is a part of the Marriott Vacation Club (timeshare) and is located on the West side of Oahu in the planned resort community of Ko Olina, approximately 20 minutes from Honolulu.

If you're not familiar with the Ko Olina Resort area, it is a more secluded area and encompasses 640 acres of sweeping ocean and mountain views and a string of lagoons connected by more than a mile and a half of seaside pathways.

Hotel options located in Ko Olina include Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina, Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club and the Beach Villas at Ko Olina.

Marriott Ko Olina is fairly spread out, with rooms across three towers and depending on which tower you're staying in, there will be parking options close by for self-parking or you can choose valet parking.

Family-friendly amenities you'll enjoy on property during your stay here include:

  • Heated outdoor pools with whirlpool spas
  • Children’s outdoor pool
  • Activity Center,
  • Play area, arcade and daily activity programs for all ages
  • Spa
  • BBQ Grills
  • Firepits
  • The Fia Fia Luau (available every Tuesday)
  • Ko Olina Lagoon (Nal'a Lagoon 3)

Accommodations

Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club offers 550 one, two, and three-bedroom villas across three towers.

Well-appointed villas have ample living and dining space to accommodate anywhere from four to eight guests, elegant, comfortable furnishings, fully equipped kitchen and dining areas, furnished private balconies and patios, washer and dryer, and more.

During our last stay here, we were in a 2-bedroom villa ocean view unit that was halfway up the Hale Nai'a Tower.  Our villa unit was not remodeled yet, as there was a room decor refresh going on in other towers.

Dining

There are a few on-site dining options that include:
  • The Marketplace: Discover to-go drinks, treats, Starbucks coffee, and travel necessities.
  • Longboards: Kick back and admire oceanfront views while enjoying Hawaiian-style appetizers, sandwiches, island cocktails, and more. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Longhi’s Ko Olina: Savor succulent seafood and delicious steak on the picturesque terrace or in the stylish lounge.
  • Naiʻa Pool Bar: Relax and sip a refreshing tropical cocktail as you look out over Ko Olina’s Naiʻa Lagoon.
There are many other dining options at the other area hotels, as well as at the Ko Olina shopping center, where there is a Monkeypod Kitchen and a few other smaller restaurants.

Whenever we stay here, we always stock up on groceries since there is a full kitchen in the villa and enjoy nice dinners out at the Ko Olina restaurants (except for the occasional breakfast at Eggs n 'Things)

Overall Impression

If you're planning a family trip to Oahu, it is very hard to overlook Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club, especially if you're a Marriott Vacation Club owner or enjoy staying at Marriott branded properties.

Whenever we stay at in the Ko Olina area, I like to break up a larger trip to Hawaii by staying elsewhere on the island first and doing any sight-seeing first and then relaxing at the Marriott Ko Olina Resort to take full advantage of all of the resort amenities offered on property and since it is a little further away from Waikiki and other Oahu things you'd want to experience.

Also, due to that location the West side of the island on Oahu, you'd have to drive a considerable amount depending on the different parts of the island you may want to visit, so that is another thing to keep in mind.

Once we get settled in Ko Olina, I like to stay there and enjoy the resort amenities, the Ko Olina beach walk, ocean lagoons, and the shops and restaurants at Ko Olina Center that includes some of our favorites like Monkeypod Kitchen and Eggs 'n Things.
