Review: Disney Visa Credit Cards
Planning a trip to a Disney theme park anytime soon and looking to save a little money? Disney offers two visa credit cards through Chase Bank, the Disney Premier Visa Card and the Disney Rewards Visa Card, which can help you save money at Disney Theme Parks or when purchasing Disney merchandise.
Benefits & Current Offer
Most of the benefits and perks of the two cards are similar with the only main difference between the two cards being an annual fee, how rewards are earned and the initial bonus.
Disney Premier Visa Card:
Disney Rewards Visa Card:
Both cards offer the same card member perks:
You can read more about these benefits at the Disney Rewards website.
My Experience:
Applying for one card versus the other would come down to your personal preference and if the extra benefits are worth the $49 annual fee. In my opinion the no annual fee Disney Rewards Visa Card is likely the better value, unless you plan on spending at least $4,900/year on the Disney Premier Visa Card to help recoup the cost of the annual fee and maybe utilizing the rewards you earn towards airline travel.
I applied for the Disney Rewards Visa Card last year before visiting Disneyland and received the $50 gift card as a statement credit. I mainly applied for the card to receive the discounts available at Disneyland and for the additional added value of the card member perks.
At Disneyland, we were able to save 10% on dining, shopping at the Disney store and in Downtown Disney. We were also able to take advantage of the Character Meet 'N' Greet at Disney California Adventure to receive a free 5x7 picture and see Sulley from Monsters Inc.
A full list of the extra perks for card members while visiting Disneyland is shown below:
A similar list exists for Disney World, which you can access at the Disney website by clicking here.
While I don't use the card for everyday spending, the Disney card can be a great way to save some money at Disney theme parks, Disney Resorts and when purchasing Disney merchandise. It's also nice to be able to get extra added value of the card member perks when visiting Disneyland or Disney World.
We'll be visiting Disneyland and Disney California Adventure at the end of the month for Halloween and plan on using these benefits and the 10% discounts available there.
