Review: Andaz West Hollywood

The Andaz West Hollywood, a boutique luxurious high-rise in the heart of Sunset Strip, has a prime location in West Hollywood and is near all of the main attractions in and around Hollywood including popular attractions such as the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Hollywood Bowl and Universal Studios; shops on Rodeo Drive, and dining on the Sunset Strip.

Hotel Overview:
The Andaz West Hollywood embodies the LA lifestyle, from the rotating art displays, to the complimentary wine hour to panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills from one of the highest rooftop pools in Los Angeles.

The entrance to the hotel as you drive up is pretty small and easy to miss if you're not paying attention.  The only parking option at the hotel is through valet, which will run you $44.  Self parking is available for $39, but there are no in/out privileges

As soon as you walk in the doors, you'll notice the very casual check-in table and minimalist rockstar decor style of the hotel.  The Andaz brand is Hyatt hotels' take on the trendy, yet luxurious boutique hotel with sophisticated style, locally inspired cuisine, and vibrant social areas with a kaleidoscope of the local culture.  The Andaz West Hollywood embraces this and its rock star history.

Complimentary coffee and snacks in the morning and nightly wine hour in the evenings

The hotel has a rich Rock-n-Roll history and the current decor and ambiance reflect the rich history of the hotel.  In the late 1960s and 1970s, the hotel's proximity to popular clubs such as the Whisky a Go Go made it the preferred accommodation for touring rock groups and notable artists from Led Zeppelin, The Who to the Rolling Stones.

The rooftop pool deck is the highest rooftop pool in the city and offers expansive views of the surrounding area, Hollywood Hills and the Los Angeles skyline.

Accommodations:
The hotel features 239 rooms, including 20 suites, with spectacular views of the Hollywood Hills on one side and the Sunset Strip and downtown Los Angeles on the other.

If you've ever stayed at an Andaz hotel, you'll be familiar with minimalist style and sleek modern decor of the rooms.  For our most recent stay here, we were in a Two Queen Bed Room with views of the Hollywood Hills.

Sleek, white-tiled bathrooms have walk-in showers and are appointed with Lather bath products.

The Andaz brand features complimentary in-room snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic) that are replenished daily.

The Andaz bears were given to my kids at check-in and were a nice touch from the staff.

Dining:
The Riot House Restaurant offers seasonal California cuisine, with the Riot House bar offering light bites and signature cocktails overlooking the Sunset Strip.

We enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant each morning before heading out.  Options included either a breakfast buffet or ordering off of the menu.

Also, be sure to check out the Colette Miller Wings Project as you head towards the Riot House Restaurant, as it's a popular photo location.

Summary:
Overall, we had a great stay at the Andaz West Hollywood.  The location was perfect for exploring Hollywood and Universal Studios, which was only a short drive away.  The room offered us enough space and the service here is top-notch.  The available amenities here and area activities are great for a family trip or couples getaway.
