Review: Ritz Carlton Marina del Rey

The Ritz Carlton Marina del Rey is a waterfront luxury hotel situated on one of the largest man-made recreational marinas in the world.  The hotel is located in a great spot in Southern California and is only minutes away from LAX and neighboring Venice Beach and Santa Monica.

Hotel Overview:
Facing the marina from six waterfront acres, the Ritz Carlton Marina del Rey is the deluxe choice in Marina del Rey and is a sophisticated under-the-radar airport hotel for discerning travelers.

As you enter the driveway entrance into the hotel, you'll notice the lovely water fountain and landscaping, with bell service and valet quickly of service to help get you settled in to the hotel.  Valet parking will run you $42 per night and is the only option for parking.

The first thing you'll notice upon entering the lobby is the grandeur and modern, yet timeless, decor throughout the lobby and hotel and what you'd expect of the Ritz Carlton brand.

The amenities of the Ritz Carlton Marina del Rey include farm-to-table dining at Cast & Plow, a heated saltwater pool, spa and fitness center overlooking the marina.

Additional highlights of the hotel include:
  • Situated on one of the world's largest man-made recreational marinas
  • Waterfront heated saltwater swimming pool and whirlpool.
  • Two lighted tennis courts and basketball

  • Access to waterfront walking/jogging trails

Accommodations:
The hotel features 304 guest rooms and suites beautifully decorated to reflect the marina and skyline views in bright tones of blue, yellow, and gold.

For our recent stay here, we were in a Club Level King Room that featured great marina views.

The Ritz-Carlton Club Level is located on the hotel's top two floors and provides a “hotel within a hotel” atmosphere with upgraded services and amenities. The special Club Level includes expansive accommodations, access to a lounge with breathtaking views of Marina del Rey, and a dedicated concierge staff. The private lounge features five food and beverage presentations daily; perfect for morning coffee, a midday snack, or a glass of wine before dinner.

The bathroom decor is typical of what you can expect at a Ritz Carlton hotel, i.e., luxurious with  detailed finishes.

The marina view from our room on the Juliet balcony was great for catching sunset views every evening.

Dining:
There are two dining options available at the hotel, as well as a Club Lounge.
  • Cast & Plow features farm-to-table dining featuring local and sustainable ingredients and is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to midnight

  • Wave Poolside Bar + Grill is open seasonally for lunch and dinner and offers contemporary California cuisine.
  • Club Lounge - The Ritz-Carlton Club offers private lounge access with a personal concierge staff and complimentary culinary presentations throughout the day.

My Experience:
The Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey is a great hotel in an awesome location with easy access to LAX airport and Santa Monica.  The available amenities here are great for a family trip, couples getaway or quick overnight stay when traveling though LAX.

Everything from valet, check-in, welcome amenities, club lounge, dining choices and activities available here made our stay enjoyable and very memorable.  We had a great time during our stay at the hotel and look forward to visiting again soon.
